Dear West Bengal Sports Department and Honorable Chief Minister,
Thanks for all the good things you did with Saltlake Stadium for the WC U17. We, the common football lovers, going to the stadium for decades now, do pledge our promise to keep up the good facade and protest if any destruction is observed. However, please look into the atrocities being going in the name of security measures that is a huge deterrent to even decent football going crowd. Bags even without any throwable objects are not allowed for unknown reasons, umbrellas are not allowed, which is again a very laughable justification, people coming from offices and colleges are struggling with their bags, two wheeler riders are not allowed with helmets, fans are not permitted to enter with drums and even flag poles!!! On top of that there are no ticket counters allowed at the venue on the match day except for ISL fixtures. Can you imagine? The greatest of the European venues have no qualm about these and even pyros and other things. People are being turned away for the silliest of reasons. People not allowed to leave the ramps is again another hilarious decision!!! Dear State Government please look into this considering the football enthusiasm and spectator convenience factors and not just blindly adhering to WC norms. It's not bible and football is above any religion for us in that matter.
A Football Commoner
