Tannishtha Banerjee started this petition to West Bengal government and

As per the meeting conducted by the West Bengal Education Ministry on 07.07.2021, the thing preferred by the Ministry is the "cancellation of entrance exams" by all the universities as it would create "problems" in this COVID-19 pandemic situation. Now, this could have been considered a rational decision if the following cases were not true :

  1. The NEET and JEE are going to take place around the same time with many more students appearing for it than in the PUBDET or Jadavpur University Admission Test.
  2. It is only a handful of Universities in West Bengal that conduct the entrance test. Most other colleges and universities do not have the convention of taking entrance exams for admission. So how can taking admission tests this year can create "problems"?

The above mentioned facts are left to you to judge if it is relevant at all to cancel the examinations by the excuse of the pandemic situation or saying that if only a few institutions conduct the entrance exam, it would create problems.

Now, modifications can be made to the existing possibilities by different ways so that the exams can be conducted. This may include

  • Increasing the number of examination centres.
  • Making the exams elongated by taking entrance for fewer subjects a day.

These all would prevent crowding in this pandemic situation and will also ensure that the entrance examinations take place. Now afterall it will depend on the authorities who should consider every other options before cancelling at once.

Please sign and share this petition if you support the cause and found these points logical enough so that it gets the attention it deserves.
