The ocean is such a big world that the sea creatures that have been discovered so far are countless. However, among the creatures in the sea that humans concern themselves with, the octopus is unique in a number of ways that make it likeable to those that want to know more about the aquatic world.

The Octopus
The Octopus is an ocean creature that got its name from having eight harms. In contrast to other sea creatures, the octopus was found to have three hearts and blue blood. This creature mostly depends on squirting ink to protect itself from predators that may want to harm it. Interestingly, even with the big bulbous head, the octopus can comfortably squeeze their body in tight spaces to make their presence invincible.

During the hunt for food, this carnivore sea creature typically drops down on their prey and envelop such prey with their arm so as to aid them in pulling the animal into their mouth. When the octopus finally decides to mate, death calls afterward, and that accounts to one of the reasons why they have a very short life span whose range is around six months. However, to prevent themselves from extinction, the female usually lays eggs that is as much as 400,000.

Why is the Octopus different?
From the description of this sea creature, one can comfortably agree that the octopus is an interesting creature. Its behavior and lifestyle have historically prickled the curious mind of scientists and other aquatic fans, and everyone really wants to know how this creature is different from other sea creatures that we are familiar with.

After a careful study of the Octopus, some of the facts that have been used to differentiate the octopus include but not limited to the following:

  • The Chameleon of the Ocean: One of the unique differences between the Octopus and other sea creatures is its great style of trickery.  Octopuses have the ability to change colors, which makes them cover themselves in the large ocean. Some can even mimic up to fifteen other animals in the way they move just to protect themselves in the open ocean.
  • Octopuses made the list of intelligent animals: Alongside the dolphins and chimps, octopuses are now known to be unique in the ocean for their intelligence. They have been found to have a condensed brain with a section that has been dedicated to learning, a trait that is only common among other invertebrate animals. There has also been a study that established that the octopus has personalities which make them react differently when they are shy, active or emotional.

It is a long list for the octopus, and the unique behavior explained were selected because of their high rank in what makes the creature different from others in the ocean. So, it can now be clearly seen that the octopus is more than a random creature in the ocean. In addition to the entire characteristics, Octopus has also distinguished itself among those who eat it as a sea creature with beneficial nutrients
