Reinstate Billpay service for DOT at Pinjarra Post Office
Reinstate Billpay service for DOT at Pinjarra Post Office
Murray House, the new Licensees for Department of Transport in Pinjarra, has insisted that DOT cancel Pinjarra Post Office's ability to process the auspost BillPay (simple bar coded) DOT transactions. This means that with effect from 10th August 2021 all DOT regos and license renewals etc will have to be paid at Murray House, causing the following problems for the community:-
- Much longer wait times in the DOT queue compared to the Post Office – this means a 5 minute transaction at the PO may now become a 30 minute wait at Murray House.
- Much higher commission paid for these simple transactions - $8.39 extra per transaction - which ultimately affects the cost of regos etc.
- Loss of income to the Post Office which we will have to recover – this means that we will no longer be able to sign Stat Decs or Certify copies for free.
For 10 years, when the PO ran DOT, these simple BillPay transactions were always done on the Post Office side to give faster service, as this was better for our customers, even though this meant we earned lower fees. However, now Murray House is forcing us to stop this, so you have to wait longer and they get the higher fees, even though they are “not for profit”. This may be good for Murray House but we can’t see how this is good for our community…
If you are unhappy with this situation, please sign our petition, which is asking to have this decision reversed, so customers can have the choice of where to pay these bills.
