Plant Trees not Storage Facilities!

Plant Trees not Storage Facilities!

We, the residents of Aurora, North Aurora, and Sugar Grove oppose the proposed location of the Operations/Central Storage facility on Deerpath Road south of Herget Middle School. We respectfully ask the West Aurora SD 129 School Board to find another location which is not in a residential area!
In 2002, the city of Aurora published a vision plan for the west side of the city. The vision statement of the document proposed that "by looking at the land first and using creativity in development we hope to achieve an innovative living environment in harmony with nature." The residential areas on the west side of Aurora were built with this vision in mind.
The proposed 26,000 square foot industrial maintenance and salt storage facility is in direct contrast to this vision. The neighborhoods impacted by this proposed site have multiple concerns:
- The environmental impact to the Blackberry watershed. The area of the proposed facility drains into the wetlands of adjoining neighborhoods and eventually into the Fox River.
- The additional traffic on Deerpath Road and surrounding roadways.
- The safety of children walking to and from Herget Middle School as well as everyone using the walking paths in the area.
- The light pollution and noise generated by the proposed facility since it will be directly next to people's homes.
Join us in opposing this project and asking the School Board to select another location in a commercial or industrial area.
