Wesleyan University claims to be an eco-friendly school, thus highly recommend that students bring refillable water bottles to campus. The campus shops don’t sell plastic water bottles, so it’s essential to have a place to fill our reusable bottles. 

Yet, the only place where students can get cold, clean water is in the ONE dining hall on campus. The other dining spots on campus prohibit the filling of bottles from their soda machines, and the tap water is only edible when filtered (an option not necessarily feasible for students). The dining hall is also far away for many students, especially the students who live in community housing or apartments. 

If Wesleyan wants to prevent the spread of “WesPlague” and keep its students safe, it is EXTREMELY important to have clean, cold water available across campus. That is why this petition has been created: it’s time for us to DEMAND more water bottle filling stations on campus from both the administration and the WSA (Wesleyan Student Assembly).
