Change the Wesleyan College Graduation Fee!

The graduation fee for Wesleyan College is $150. When asked what this fee covered, the response was "It covers the cost of all of the graduation events from candle lighting to the graduation speaker." The Wesleyan Student body does not think that this is a good enough response and we find the graduation fee to be too expensive for what all it does and does not cover.
This fee does NOT cover graduation cap/gown/tassel/hood costs (which tally up to be over 80$).
So, along with the current graduation fee, students must pay a total of $230 in order to graduate and walk across the stage at this traditional event.
We understand that it does cost money to put on graduation-related events. However, we believe that the fee could be reduced to at least $75 dollars and would still be able to cover the costs of graduation-related expenses. We also believe that there are places where Wesleyan can cut costs for these events (such as not "paying" the graduation speaker, ask an alumni, and only pay for their hotel room/travel costs).
If the fee is not reduced, then we believe that the school should start using money from the $150 fee to provide each student with a cap/gown rental as well as our graduation hood and tassel.
We believe that there are solutions to this issue and that the school can work with students to make these changes. The cost of attending school is already an expensive burden for students, we don't think that this much of a graduation fee is required to pay for all of the events.
If the school disagrees, and thinks that the fee is justifiable, then we would like a full breakdown of how many students graduate and pay the fee vs the cost of all graduation expenses.
Even if this change cannot happen before the class of 2017 graduates, we want to make a positive change for our sisters that graduate after us.
