As of January 2022 Public Health Wales have announced that the testing gap between smears will go from 3 years to 5 years for women 25-49.

This is UNACCEPTABLE. I would like to represent the women who have been unfortunate enough to have been effected with HPV abnormalities and cervical cancer and I would like to represent their family and friends. 

5 years is way to long and those extra 2 years of doing nothing could very well make the difference between someone's.mother, sister, daughter, friend DYING from something horrific that could have been diagnosed and treated 24 months before.

I would like to see this change reviewed and restored back to the 3 years as it is now and for the age to also be reconsidered from 25 back down to 18 as cancer does not discriminate.

We have had it drummed into us to have our health at the front of our mind and to be responsible and attend our smears as they are so important - WHY HAS THIS CHANGED SUDDENLY.

COVID IS AT THE FOREFRONT OF EVERYONE AND EVERYWHERE IS UNDER STRAIN BUT THIS IS NO EXCUSE TO NEGLECT YOUNG WOMEN AND TO NEGLECT OUR HEALTH. 

I urge you and your family and friends to consider signing this petition as I fee very very strongly about it and the potential consequences in this action being taken. I speak on behalf of myself and the women of Wales who rely on this routine test.
