Anti-social off road motor bikers.

The problem of anti-social off-road motor bikers in Cardiff’s residential areas has increased exponentially in recent years.  The bikers ride around with impunity and with no apparent concern for the law, road safety or their impact on the community,  causing as much noise and disruption as possible:

• dangerously riding towards cars forcing them to swerve
• doing "wheelies" on the road and public parks next to children
• damaging local football pitches where children play, and which is used by local sports clubs
• revving up and down the local streets for hours on end, causing endless noise nuisance for residents and families
• intimidating pedestrians in public parks by riding towards them and in-between families, children, dog walkers

The perpetrators are usually a group of young people gathered in the local park, taking turns riding those motorbikes.

Local residents' reality and the lack of action and resolution from authorities.

Despite numerous calls to the 101 Non-Emergency Police number, and reports to their MP and the local councillors, Cardiff residents have been left feeling frustrated and ignored with the same answers: "the Police cannot chase them but the Council has a team that can".  Residents often give up reporting incidents altogether due to the extremely long waiting time to get through to 101.  

Despite the fact that the riders can be found riding in the same places and on the same residential routes day in day out, still nothing is done, whilst Police vehicles pass by without even stopping to investigate.

Our biggest fear.

This persistent dangerous behaviour will inevitably lead to an accident in future, not to mention the negative impact it is already having on residents' well-being and their ability to enjoy their neighbourhood.

What we want.

A number of Cardiff residents have decided that it is time to come together and make a concerted effort to have the authorities listen to and act on this issue. 

We want:

• to enjoy our local neighbourhood in peace and safely
• for Welsh Assembly Government, Cardiff MPs, The Police and Cardiff Council and Councillors to take prompt, concerted and co-ordinated action to tackle the problem of anti-social off-road motor bikers riding on the public highways and in public open spaces around Cardiff’s residential areas.
