Many secondary schools have an elitist view on Uniform, for example they ‘must wear the sports uniform’ which is branded and only available from one supplier hence no price competition. They must wear the branded blazer or sweater of which costs are extremely high ( when you have to purchase 3+ per child) and not covered by local authorities’ uniform grant ( which is also not every year).

If employed, the cost of uniform would be provided to employers yet not those in school.

Many parents were already struggling with these costs;and now, with less pay due to Covid 19, or maybe no pay, they are feeling their children may be targeted for not having the right uniform.

Surely this goes against the grain of inclusion?

Teenagers being questioned in front of their peers for not having the right top and subsequently being covertly bullied for this has to stop.

There are many high street shops that supply low cost uniform colours... surely this is enough to let everyone feel included and able to learn, which is of course the main aim of attending school.

We want to abolish the worry and pressure for parents and young people and allow conformity of presentation without elitism.
