Patrolman Kamerer on Christmas Day 2011, while performing his police duties to ensure the people of Ohio and Wells Township safety, was struck by a truck while trying to arrest two individuals. Patrolman Kamerer's' injuries were severe and catastrophic to his future health. Patrolman Kamerer suffered a broken tibia and fibula, a shattered knee, torn rotator cuff, and a slap tear and labral tear. Patrolman Kamerer could have easily died from such profound injuries. Patrolman Kamerer went from a wheelchair to having to use a cane today. Patrolman Kamerer's life has now changed forever because of his dedicated service to the citizens of Wells Township and the State of Ohio. Patrolman Kamerer served his community of Wells Township and Ohio to the best of his ability. The bureaucracy of Wells Township to include, the present Chief of Police, to save money, terminated the medical benefits of Patrolman Kamerer. This is simply wrong as we do not and should not, abandon our police officers that suffered line of duty injuries. Patrolman Kamerer needs his medical benefits and his heroic service in support of his fellow citizens requires Wells Township to reinstate his medical benefits immediately.
