Tell WellNow Urgent Care to treat it’s healthcare heroes better!
Dear Dr. Radford,
As you are well aware, the Covid-19 pandemic has made life extremely difficult for workers and families everywhere. For healthcare workers in particular, it has made us question our resolve and tested our patience. With each following wave of infections and every new, more transmissible variant, we have been driven to question our commitment to the communities we serve, and forced to weigh the opportunities of seeking employment elsewhere.
With the global health crisis raging on, paying dividends to the company (as evidenced by continuous growth and expansion into other states, as well as the openings of new sites all over New York), we question the sincerity of the “WellNow heroes” label, which hangs in the exam rooms of every one of our clinics. We have dealt with dangerously high patient volumes, severe staffing shortages, and verbal abuse from difficult patients. All of these challenges have amounted to nothing short of complete burnout. Yet, in the face of it all, we continue to put our health, as well as our physical and mental well-being on the line in the name of caring for our patients.
It is with that in mind, that we, the undersigned workers of WellNow Urgent Care, formally request that the following changes be instituted.
1. In order to provide a fair and livable wage, a company-wide minimum rate of $20 per hour for receptionists, $21 per hour for medical scribes, $23 per hour for patient care techs, $26 per hour for LPNs, $30 per hour for X-Ray techs, and $30 per hour for clinical leads.
2. In order to maintain safe and well-functioning clinics, the ability to cap the number of asymptomatic Covid-19 tests administered per day, as well as provide additional and appropriate staffing to each of the sites to help with shortages.
3. An increase in paid time off from 80 hours to 120 hours for all employees after two full years of employment with the company.
4. In order to upkeep a sanitary working environment, a weekly cleaning service to provide a more thorough cleaning than what clinic staff is capable of doing during the day.
We believe that these requests are not only fair and appropriate, but necessary. We believe that by instituting these changes, it will help to alleviate some of the stress and pressure of increasingly high patient volumes. Throughout the pandemic, we have all invested our time, energy, and effort into caring for our communities, and we are now asking that WellNow invest the same level of care for us. Lastly, we believe that the above changes will allow us to continue to live up to our excellent standard of care for our patients.
The submission of this petition is a collective, concerted activity under the protection of federal law, outlined clearly in the National Labor Relations Act.
signed,
WellNow #UnitedTeams
