Approval has been given for the storage of dead bodies, and shortly the operation of a Crematorium within the Wellington Industrial Park.

The only thing keeping this from happening is that Stoney's Guest House is within the minim 500m radius from a residential housing/ dwelling.

Currently they are trying to reduce the legal minimum from 500m to 300m to avoid the issue of Stoney's Guest House.

The cut-off is 12 March 2021 - we were not informed about this 'approval' in distance reduction.

Wellington Industrial Park falls under Zone 1, by law, they can not erect a Crematorium within the Industrial Park, as  crematorium falls within it's own zone: Refer to “Model of Regulations Provincial Zoning Scheme Oct 2004 –12.6 OPEN SPACE ZONE 3: CEMETERY” (page 79).

Somehow, the minimum legal requirements were met, with regards to the Environmental Impact Study. This should be revisited due to the global epidemic as well as the two food producers that share a wall with the proposed site. The 2 food producers that bought buildings that share a wall with the proposed site were never informed of this plan.

Every effort we have made has been in vain and our objections ignored.

We need your help to ensure this does NOT go ahead, as the impact study was also based on wind direction (6.1 months of the year the wind blows into Wellington). In addition they did not deem it necessary to install a filter.

All this was done in 2019, prior to Covid-19, they deem it unnecessary to do another study.
