Reconsider the traffic calming plan re: Club Blvd and have city engineers incorporate the concerns and needs of multiple constituencies into another design without additional delay.

We would like a change in the current traffic calming design implementing neckdowns on Club Blvd. and to have city engineers incorporate the concerns and needs of multiple constituencies into another design without additional delay, for the following reasons:

1) The design is outdated and shortsighted - it's over 13 years old and has not accounted for changes in the city since then.

2) The design contradicts the city's comprehensive bicycle plan adopted in 2006, and does not take in consideration the safety of cyclists.

3) The design raises many questions about the massive veto power WHHNA neighborhood board has over a public, city-owned street.

We also believe that there are other ways of achieving the aims of pedestrian safety without compromising safety for bicyclists.

Letter to
City of Durham, North Carolina
Watts Hospital Hillandale Neighborhood Association Board
We ask that the City of Durham and the WHHNA board to:
1) please reconsider the traffic calming plan regarding neckdowns on Club Blvd.
2) have city engineers incorporate the concerns and needs of multiple constituencies into another design without additional delay.

We would like the aforementioned changes for the following reasons:

1) The design is outdated and shortsighted - it's over 13 years old and has not accounted for changes in the city since then.

2) The design contradicts the city's comprehensive bicycle plan adopted in 2006, and does not take in consideration the safety of cyclists.

3) The design raises many questions about the massive veto power WHHNA neighborhood board has over a public, city-owned street.

We also believe that there are other ways of achieving the aims of pedestrian safety without compromising safety for bicyclists.

Thank you.
