Sri Lanka is in the grip of an unprecedented shortage of food, fuel and other essentials— along with record inflation and crippling power cuts with no sign of an end to the woes.

The is the worst economic crisis since independence. The due credit for this enormous contribution goes to the incumbent government and their incompetence in making decisions.

Commoners and activists have been protesting and calling out the government for their actions. The only response from their end is reciprocating with imposing state of emergency and curfew.

#GoHomeGota is not just a hashtag, it is the wish and desire of the common man who has been withstanding the injustices for a long time. It has led to the point of where his own home is sinking and the possibility of making a comeback is zero to none. The damage will be felt for decades.

The President’s only counter attack to this stand is deciding to entirely remove the cabinet and appoint a new one. This also comes with an exception that his brother remains the PM. Its like he is trying to paint a completely run down house and tell public, “I have fixed the house.”

Public wants new foundation not something to divert their attention while you access crisis management.

We want change. Sri Lankans are ready for their great leap towards securing their future.

Rajapaksas has for long played with the future of Sri Lanka in their home-backyard making the government a family affair. Not one of the Rajapaksas can be held without being unaccountable for this unrest.

Rightly, they should be jailed for dragging the nation down to the pits. Took the broken economy and speedran it down the highway to hell.
