We would like family inclusive events, weekly reports or status updates in regards to what will be an area of focus in their education and fun themed days/weeks to return.

Examples of changes we want to see:

• Family Inclusive Events:
  • Mother's/Father's Day, Grandparent's Day, Parent/Teacher lunch, Halloween parties
  • End of year party, seasonal parties with parents involved
• Themed Day/Weeks: (allowing children to dress up and be immersed)
  • PJ day, spirit week, kid disco day
  • Around the world and different cultures
• Improvements to Curriculum/Projects:
  • Parents informed of curriculum themes ahead of time and reports at end of week (i.e: "this week we will focus on the letter B and then send a report to show what that entailed)
  • Return of yoga, dance, exercise as it was in the past. Also this could be communicated to parents with week end report.
  • More personalized artwork that is sent home to parents (i.e- art with hand/foot prints and photos) and could coincide with the curriculum theme)
  • Provide regular updates to parents for changes they should expect or status- such as status of new playground equipment.

It is no secret that family engagement is a top determinant in a students success at school. Strong partnerships between schools and families can improve student attendance, performance and how a child feels about school. According to startearly.org, " Family engagement in early education is particularly import to help create consistency between home and school environments. The positive outcomes of engaged parents are powerful and children see benefits like improved cognitive development and academic performance, better social-emotional development, and improved health". 

We understand that the world as we know it came to a halt in 2020 but we have seen through other parents that what we are asking for has returned and in full force at other schools. 

We see the wonderful teachers and play based learning that has been implemented at Summit Kids Academy, we just would like the other important factors to return.
