We Want Determan

We Want Determan
Coach Determan has been the Benson Bobcat head football coach for 19 years. During his tenure he’s had 2 state title appearances, consistent conference dominance, and unmatched community and alumni support. Determan was due for a contract extension in the next few years, however his return as head of the program came with stipulations this year from Benson Superintendent Micah Mortenson and HS Principle Jeff Thompson that he would either change his offense to a spread style or resign. Seeing as how his run-heavy wing T offense has been extremely successful for his 19 year tenure, he chose to resign. Coach Determan was fired based on “philosophical differences” not on merit. Determan has built young boys into men for the last 19 years as head coach and had no intentions of stopping. We believe this sets a disturbing trend that is not in the best interest of the student, the future bobcat football players, and the community. We call for Benson administration end the charade of forcing out very capable, successful, and community admired coaches to fit their agenda and reinstate Chris Determan as head football coach immediately with no restrictions on how he choose to run his team.
