The Hitchin waste transfer centre in Burymead Road, Hitchin is a health hazard. All manner of household waste is dumped there in a huge mountain. No containers are used. This festers for many days before it is transferred elsewhere. İt generates a putrid stench that effects all the residents close by and the businesses in Burymead Road itself which includes a children's nursery. This transfer centre has been granted a permit since 2014. İt's seriously time it was relocated to a non residential area away from business centres. 

This has been an ongoing issue that appears to us as not being addressed despite appeals to the council over a long period. We can't use our gardens when it's at it's worse level 

The health and well-being of residents in this area should be paramount. We have never seen an Environmental agency report

The smell is disgusting and getting worse with an influx of flying bugs to add to this annoyance. It is not pleasant sitting in our gardens eating and socialising with friends and family on what have been these extremely hot days. It was almost like sitting in a public toilet. We need over 100 signatures before the council will add it to a meeting level of concern.
