The illegal and brutal invasion of Ukraine and the targeted destruction of Ukrainian cities by Russia has forced a mass exodus of over 1.5 million women and children to neighbouring countries like Poland.

It is not enough for the UK to expect these Ukrainian refugees to battle their way through Europe before trying to cross the Channel to the UK.

Just as it did when it airlifted thousands of Afghans from Kabul, the UK must offer emergency rescue flights from Poland so these traumatised women and children can most rapidly be reunited with friends and family in the UK.
