We the undersigned call upon the Council to install a pelican crossing across Lynn Road, between the roundabout with Cam Drive and the Junction with Kings Avenue. This crossing is needed to create a safe place to cross the road, particularly for children

There are many children that need to cross the road either to catch buses to school, or to make their way to Ely College.  Many parents and children attempt to cross this road to get to Ely St Mary's and Spring Meadow schools.  When the new school is built to the north of Cam Drive, the need to ensure there are adequate crossing points will increase further.

The route from the A10 along Cam Drive, into Lynn Road and then onto Kings Avenue has been designated as the main transport route so that HGVs will avoid travelling through the City centre.  The growth of North Ely to date has resulted in a significant increase in traffic along this route and the further planned developments will see a greatly increased level of traffic.

The risk to pedestrians attempting to cross these roads is already serious, and will only get worse over the coming years.

Safe crossing points should already be in place, but the Council has failed to make these basic infrastructure improvements as the City has grown.

We need safer crossings before there is a tragedy on this road.
