It is time to start making politicians do their jobs. They take our votes for granted. They sell you a bill of goods to get elected, but rarely keep their promises once they get into office. It’s time to change that by hitting them where it hurts, their pockets. This petition is to restructure pay for congressmen/women and senators. On average a member of congress makes $174,000/ yr. That is around 5-6 times more than than the minimum wage American. They don’t work 40 hours a week nor do they work 365 days a week. What this petition calls for is for incentivized pay. Start with a low base pay (i.e- $7.25 minimum wage) and increase it X% as they pass laws. This is the only way Congress and the senate will actually get work done in a timely matter. MAKE THEM EARN THEIR DOLLARS just like you have to earn yours. For far too long politicians have been coasting through without getting anything done. This new pay structure would incentivized them to actually get more laws passed in a timely matter. After all they make their salary off the taxpayers money. It’s our money, we should structure the payout. This petition by no means a finished polished product, but it’s a start.
