STOP the eradication of the department of Diversity and Inclusion at ATU.

A motion has been set in place by state legislators to REMOVE the department of Diversity and Inclusion, as well as its associate dean position from the Arkansas Tech University state funded budget. This means that they are working to remove the department. The motion was moved on Thursday March 9th, 2017. This comes upon the heels of a state legislature having a slight problem with a flyer posted to Facebook for a department sponsored event called 'Sex On The Lawn'. An event that was focused on having safe-space conversations about sexual health and wellness. One state rep. has been noted as saying that legislature holds the "purse strings" to the department. Quote taken from the 'Local Run Down' website. Although state reps. have been quoted in saying that their desire to remove said department has nothing to do with the event. It's quite odd that this was the straw that broke the camels back. I think they've been wanting to do away with the department since it got to ATU, and this was their way of finding a grievance worth using to set their plan into motion. Please sign the petition in an effort to let them know that this department NEEDS to stick around.
