The government shutdown is affecting the provision of basic federal services to our elderly, veterans, mothers, children and others. A default of US debt resulting from the failure to raise the debt ceiling could trigger “a financial crisis and recession that could echo the events of 2008 or worse”, according to a US Treasury report.

The House Republicans elected in 2012 believe that these terrible outcomes are justified by the audacious action of the US government: providing affordable health insurance for all its citizens, like every other developed nation. We believe this is an unacceptable outcome. Therefore, we the people of the United States will do our best to avoid patronizing the companies who funded the Republican candidates in 2012. In our view, these companies must take measures to pressure these candidates to fund the government on an ongoing basis, including telling the Republican party they will not receive any more contributions in future election cycles if they don’t do their job to keep America working.

We will do our best to avoid purchasing items or procuring services from your companies. After the shutdown is ended and debt ceiling is increased, we will reevaluate your companies based on their behavior through this period.
