NO MORE CHARTER SCHOOLS

We must NOT allow school closing decisions to feed segregation of schools by race as it seems it is being done with Shortridge so that it will become the "white middleclass" IPS high school.

Thousands of TAX PAYER dollars were spent transforming Shortridge into Gambold International Baccalaureate High School. It is the High School that is intended for the CFI students to matriculate into.

***Charter schools are privately managed. Meaning it's a business.

They have the ability to deny students with:
-Low test scores
-Mental disabilities
-Behavioral issues

The average public school teacher makes, $45,000. The average charter school teacher makes $35,000. Those teacher's are typically inexperienced and know very little about the environment they serve.

Charter school funding comes from the public school system via vouchers. For each student they enroll they receive $7,000-$10,000. Why cant IPS just fix their current system and invest their resources properly instead of paying a PRIVATE business to do so?

If this continues, schools like Tech, Arlington & Northwest WILL worsen and WILL be overlooked. If the school board approves the schools closing then they anticipate the closure for Fall of 2018, during the same time the new Marion County jail is proposed to open next year.
