We need the Floyd County Commissioners to keep Floyd County safe

Dear Floyd County Commissioners,
On December 1st you will meet to vote on the recertification of Dr. Tom Harris as the Health Director of the Floyd County Health Department. At your last meeting, you decided to table the recertification. Dr. Harris has been on the frontlines during this entire pandemic and has had to make some extremely difficult decisions. The decisions that he is making are science based and fact driven. Floyd County has entered the worst phase of this pandemic so far. Our positivity rate is extremely high and the number of available ICU beds is very low. It would be completely irresponsible to remove Dr. Harris from this position during this time. As an ER doctor, Dr. Harris has intimate knowledge about this deadly virus and is the best person to lead our community.
Dr. Harris has done a great job and has been given the approval of the Floyd County Health Department Board. Why would the commissioners not re-certify Dr. Harris immediately? Dr. Harris had to make some tough decisions in response to our soaring positivity rate to provide community mitigation. If the mitigation of community spread of this virus is the goal of this position, we should be supporting Dr. Harris. The commissioners need to explain to the public why they chose to table the recertification. We deserve answers.
Commissioners, we are asking you to make the best decision for Floyd County and re-certify Dr. Tom Harris as the Floyd County Health Officer. Our community is depending on you to do the right thing.
