To the Department of Planning, Transport & Infrastructure (DPTI),

For many years, concerned citizens of Renmark and other Riverland towns have been saying that the intersection of 21st street and the Sturt Highway, Renmark - needs change!

As a federal highway (A20), responsibility belongs to the State Government of SA and therefore is a matter for the DPTI to act upon.

Whilst being a high transport corridor & major freight route, this road is also the main motorway that travels through the middle of the rural town of Renmark. Large numbers of local and interstate motorists utilise or pass through this intersection on a daily basis. Concerns have been heightened by the local community since the opening of On The Run service station and local council announcing plans to plant trees in the median strip further obscuring visibility.

Concerns raised include; impaired visibility, speed and congestion especially at peak times resulting in significant wait times to successfully enter the intersection safely.

Many accidents or near misses occur here, with many individuals stating that the easiest option is to avoid the intersection.

We the petitioners are requesting significant alterations be made to the intersection, such as installation of a roundbout and relocation of speed limit signs - to aid in creating the safe and efficient movement of traffic at all times of the day, whilst catering to all types of road users.
