Duncan Brett started this petition to SAS Music Directors

We view Megalovania as a song that can have students face many challenges & learning opportunities. Moreover, is a "fun" (or annoying) song to listen to. This song will easily connect with the general demographic the song is aimed at. Young teenagers. We request the band directors play Megalovania for the May 16th Concert.

Things that can happen if we don't involve the song:

  • Instruments may be left out (For example Saxophones). This causes less collaboration and learning for some groups, while others benefit even more.
  • Songs that were pre-chosen don't involve the students in choosing songs to sight read, furthermore only allowing the students to choose songs that were picked.

    Why people may disagree:
  • While some people may revolt at the song choice, mainly because of the association with the videogame Undertale. Which I personally detest. However, it's a song written by a composer, not an eldritch horror that we have to ignore.

Why students like me, should have a say:

  • Last year. We did not have a say in what songs we were able to play. However this year, we've made change by all of us becoming unified as one and overthrowing the decision. I believe the Band Directors are happy seeing. This caused the choosing of the songs of :

    . Hercules vs. The Hydra
    . Gates of Orion

I believe we should continue this movement for the next concert. So to the MS Band Directors of SAS. Please let us democratically vote for what songs we should play for all of our concerts in the foreseeable future. This is one movement, together. We beg for a change.
