A JOINT DECLARATION AGAINST CATHAY PACIFIC/CATHAY DRAGON AIRLINE

針對國泰港龍航空公司之聯合聲明

Regarding Cathay Pacific/Cathay Dragon’s recent dismissal of certain members of its staff, we:

關乎近日國泰港龍航空公司無理解僱部分員工，我們：

• express our deepest regret over the de jure resignation but de facto dismissal of CEO Mr Rupert HOGG and Mr LOO Kar Pui Paul, the chief customer and commercial officer, in mid August.  Indisputably, the resignation, or dismissal, is due to political pressure rather than personal reasons.  
  對行政總裁何杲先生及顧客/商務總裁盧家培先生在8月中的「理論上辭職」 或「事實解僱」深表遺憾。毋庸置疑地，此等辭職/解僱非為個人原因，卻由於政治壓力。
• condemn, in the most categorical terms, the dismissal of pilots and airport employees for their alleged passive support or active involvement in the peaceful protests which have been spreading far and wide in Hong Kong since June 2019.  
  強烈譴責在8月下旬解僱背後支持或積極參予6-8月間香港和平抗議活動的機師及地勤員工。
• condemn, in the most categorical terms, the sudden and unreasonable dismissal of Ms SY On Na Rebecca, Chairwoman of Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Flight Attendants’ Association, for expressing private opinion in her personal facebook, notwithstanding  her effort and dedication in rallying the 2,000-member union in support of Cathay Pacific/Cathay Dragon vis-à-vis the demands of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).  Such dismissal, which is reminiscent of the purges during the Cultural Revolution of China in 1966-76, is a blatant violation of the freedom of speech which is fully guaranteed under the Basic Law of HKSAR.  
  強烈譴責突然無理解僱在個人面書內私下表達意見的港龍空勤人員協會主席施安娜小姐，漠視後者團結2,000多名會員支持公司應對中國民用航空局要求所作之努力。此等解僱不僅十分類似中國文革時期 （1966-76年）之批鬥清算，更粗暴侵蝕〈香港特區基本法〉保障之言論自由。
• call on all public-spirited citizens of Hong Kong and worldwide to boycott the airline, i.e., refrain from using its services for domestic and overseas travelling, so as to uphold the freedom of speech and expression, which is stipulated in the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948, until and unless due rectification regarding the dismissals is made. 
  呼籲所有具公民精神之香港及各國人士杯葛上述航空公司。出門旅遊/公幹時，罷乘其內陸/國際航機，從而捍衛1948年聯合國通過的〈世界人權宣言〉中之言論表達自由，直至上述解僱事件得圓滿解決。
• call on the management of all companies and institutions, both public and private, to refrain from taking disciplinary or discriminatory actions against their employees for exercising their freedom of speech and expression as long as such expression does not have any adverse effect on their work performance.  
  呼籲所有公/私營公司/機構之管理層，切勿向行使言論自由卻無影響公司/機構正常運作之僱員採取紀律或歧視措施。
