WE CANNOT SURVIVE ANOTHER REMOTE CPS SCHOOLING
WE CANNOT SURVIVE ANOTHER REMOTE CPS SCHOOLING
As a Father of two CPS students, we all did are part for over a full calender school year of remote learning, I am blessed to have a fiance to help balance that year, but We CANNOT do this again, We don't want another Pathetic federal check, funding etc. Fact is a vast majority of single parents (mostly mothers) work 1st shifts, It's completely unacceptable to expect them and parents in general, to have to quit jobs, get furloughed or pay babysitters a bulk of a work check.
It was also proving without a doubt that special needs students simply cannot get the attention they need and learn nothing via remote, while parents get told we are just lazy(the famous teacher zoom call showed that) Any longterm remote learning will without a doubt destroy thousands of the most vulnerable CPS households.
If a Walmart can stay open, so can Schools. I am not anti Covid I understand it's danger, but until the city is willing to make sure parents can fiscally balance a remote learning schedule, while teachers get full Pay to mock us, make sure special needs students can get better individual attention and mental health support. CPS parents CANNOT survive any longterm remote learning again.
