Inmates are dying from lack of proper medical care

Terry Edwards, 38, a pre-trial detainee who was arrested for non-violent offenses. He was being held at Jefferson County Jail, where he died on a cell floor, in the early morning hours of Friday, November 29th, 2013. The day after Thanksgiving.

He asked repeatedly for medical attention, but was told he could see a nurse in the morning.

That morning never came. He died from a ruptured ulcer, a treatable condition, had he received medical care.

The autopsy showed that there was no other possible cause of death and despite the few media reports, he had ZERO drugs in his system at the time of death.

This could have happened to anyone, ot could have been a ruptured appendix.

I understand that the officers deal with alot of "fake" complaints, but his symptoms  (vomitting blood) were evident. I want better protocol put into place. I don't ever want another family to go through this.

I appreciate any support while I research who to send the petition to. I am open to any suggestions, thank you in advance.
