Why do parents need to be monitored if they are home educating? This makes no sense.

I think home education is working very well. I'm yet to meet a young person that isn't a driven, motivated destined to be/or currently a productive member of society. Their are many different styles. But none of them the right or wrong way. Monitoring will do whats its done to teachers and doctors take up precious time form filling that could be spent living life and developing passions. Parents should be responsible for their children not the government. Freedom, flexibility and time are what makes home education such a productive thing. Monitoring will inevitably change this.

Home education is a legal option. Children should not need to be monitored just because they are home educated.

We chose to home educate to protect our children from the state! We found our family values seriously conflicted with state values. Both the education and welfare systems are a sham and have been failing children for decades!

Schooling in mainstream schools is only one model of education and it is not the best model for everyone. Therefore it is imperative that other options are available to children in order for them to reach their full potential as people and citizens.

I'm currently riding the roller-coaster that is home educating. Parents should have the freedom to home educate 'their' children without intrusion. Welfare & Education are two completely different things!

BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT DON'T KNOW OR SHOW ANY INTEREST IN THE POTENTIAL OF HOME EDUCATED CHILDREN. I HAVE SEEN IT FIRST HAND. Social Services knows nothing! Legal people know nothing. Home Education is one of the best and we do not need to be monitored. The Authorities knows how exceptionally talented and free Home Educated Children are. And they want to control the way we bring up our children. We should be turning the tables round to monitoring the Government. Who are they really? Not my friend, not yours or your family's tell them to get lost. And worry about their own children's education.

Home educating according to the principle of letting the children's own ways of being lead us has been vital to the way they are growing academically and personally. To frighten people by making them feel overseen would create an atmosphere of intimidation, not freedom and creativity.

Children should not be monitored in their own homes unless they are at risk/there are concerns. Children who are electively home educated should not have their privacy invaded by people checking up on them at home any more than children in schools should (unless there are safeguarding concerns). Being electively home educated does not consitute a safeguarding concern. It means that the child's parents are taking seriously their responsibility to educate their children and choosing not to delegate this responsibility to other people but rather discharging this responsibility themselves as the people whom know their child (learning styles, personality, interests, needs, potential) best

It is vital to safeguard the rights of parents in our country to educate their children in the manner most suitable for them. Monitoring often enforces a proscribed form of education which whilst manageable for the average child can wholey inappropriate for others. It would be a great loss to may of our children who thrive in the creative and proactive ways of home education for them to loose their freedom to choose how they are educated.
