Petition update

If Hanan Ashrawi Can Quietly Sign - So Can You!

Jan 30, 2016 — This illustrious woman signed this petition with little prodding and no fanfare. So once again we ask: If you haven't signed please take this opportunity to sign now. If you have, we urge yet again for you to please try to recruit others who haven't signed to sign by sharing this update with your own personal appeal.

We need 3,232 more signatures before we can close this petition and send a hard copy in as an addendum as referenced in the original letter to the UN sent back in June 2015 (see letter:

Toward this end we are officially resurrecting this petition in the hopes of reaching our goal of 10,000 signers, hopefully before the National March to Support Palestine and Protest AIPAC takes place on March 20th in Washington D.C. (sponsored by Al-Awda, The Palestinian Right to Return Coalition and co- sponsored by the ANSWER Coalition) See invite:

Dr. Hanan Daoud Ashrawi, born to Palestinian Christian parents in Nablus, a senior member of the PLO, a Palestinian legislator, activist, and scholar signed this petition with no fanfare back in July 2015 soon after it was first launched. A number of members of PAN tried to get her permission to place her as an official undersigner but she didn't return their messages. Thus she remains one of our many quiet signers. Please when time permits view the attached lecture.

After spending now almost a year and a half fundraising for small distributions of food parcels and school bags in Gaza and working in partnership with the Welfare Association Palestine for the distribution of Essential Survival Kits to the hardest hit areas, it has become crystal clear that the kind of rebuilding that is needed in Gaza truly can not take place at the level needed while Israel's illegal blockade remains.

It has also become clear that donations to Gaza have slowed significantly since the end of what Hanan Ashrawi called "Israel's deliberate massacre" in Gaza in 2014.

Between the blockage of materials necessary for comprehensive rebuilding and the slow trickling in of donations to Gaza, beyond the barest of urgent relief, the current situation in Gaza is beyond dire. Today every 3rd child is stunted by hunger, many suffer from physicial disability and PTSD due to Israel's disproportionate aggressions unleashed upon gaza since 2009. Half a million remain displaced over 100,000 still homeless and in areas throughout Gaza people are living with barely 2 hours of electricity a day.

Please take a look at Justice Matters One Voice/Welfare Association Palestine Essential Survival Kit Drive and consider a small donation of $10, $20, $30.

This petition needs 3,232 signatures to reach its goal of 10,000 and Gaza needs you for its most basic survival!

My warmest blessing to all of you.
