WE ARE THE CHANGE

WE ARE THE CHANGE
Why this petition matters
I want to start a petition so kids can feel safe at BTHS no matter who they love or the color of their skin. I was suspended yesterday Tuesday, May tenth at Belleville East HIGH SCHOOL for profanity/cussing at a peaceful protest. There were about 40 kids there who left there7th hour class to support the cause. Some people got so mad because the principal and staff were laughing, mocking us and so much more. The protesters began cussing (not at the staff) just because they were fed up because we were not being taken seriously. Before this protest, we talked to the administration and they promised us a meeting to discuss what we can do about the unfair treatment of black students(we don't get that anymore). After the protest was over the administration called are parents and we are not allowed to return to school until next Monday. We want to start a club so everyone's voice will be heard. There are a lot of problems at BTHS from racism, homophobia, men telling women what they can do with their bodies, and so much more. As A black gay woman in America, I struggle a lot at a school that says they support us but does the exact opposite. On the BTHS website, it says they stand against racism then why are you letting your English teachers say the N-word for "educational purposes". You can message me at Eligray01 on Instagram for any further questions. If you're like me and are fed up with no one changing anything sign here because WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED!
