Lewisham Council have decided that the Telegraph Hill Tennis Courts will receive funding from the Lawn Tennis Association. However, in exchange for this funding – the courts will operate on a LOCKED membership fee and booking system – currently the courts are free to all – no membership fees, no booking system. Whilst we acknowledge that the courts are in need of repair, the local community have not been allowed to seek out alternative funding which would keep the courts free and open to all. At a Friends of the Hill meeting on 13th September 2022 – we have been informed that the partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association is proceeding regardless of the substantial opposition.

By signing this petition you will be assisting your local community in attempting to PAUSE the development and allow the local community an opportunity to seek alternative funding. Local groupings opposed to the charging system have been undemocratically ignored by the council. Therefore, we ask you, as a community, to sign and support this move to alter the course of these events. A course of action that will take away another free local facility.
