Gavin Twitchell was recently suspended for making a song called “CANCELLED”. This song which he made had no swear words, no threats, or any specific names in the song. WCSD suspended Gavin from school for 5 days for the reason: Using lyrics “We gon have a battle” and “beat em up and strangle.” And also Gavin had a picture of a character pointing a gun towards its head and referencing another student by saying “black hair.”  Gavin showed the assistant principal that he i fact bought the lyrics for $5 on a website called fiverr and explained that they lyrics had no meaning whatsoever and was not mentioning any student or staff because anybody could have black hair. Also the gun to the head was creative expression and is totally legal to do that. The assistant principal still decided to suspend gavin. After the 5 days he called in for a superintendent meeting. After Gavin and his father explained themselves for the second time they decided to suspend him for 2 months or 3 weeks if he attended counseling and tutoring regularly. After all of this Gavin and his father are thinking to go to the board of education to fight against the suspension that was falsely accused of gavin. That’s why we are starting this petition.
