Anonymous WASHS class of 2020 started this petition to waynesboro area school district

As students, we feel that we deserve a fair chance at having a meaningful graduation ceremony. The class of 2020 has been a wonderful class, and we have done great things that will leave an impact at WASHS for many years to come. We have been offered a graduation ceremony for the end of May that our families and teachers aren’t allowed to attend, and we are not allowed to stay to support our fellow classmates and must leave as soon as we receive our materials. Not only are we stripped away the opportunity to be there for our friends, but our own parents aren’t even allowed to be there for this monumental moment. We would like the district to at least sleep on the idea of pushing it back to June so that AT LEAST one or two parents/guardians can be in attendance while social distancing in the bleachers. Most of the other schools in our area are doing this, why not us? It is understood that we don’t know what will happen in the future with this awful virus, but it almost feels like our district hasn’t had our backs or kept our happiness in mind. All we ask is for the opportunity to try, and to offer our administration the creative ideas that we have. Let our voices be heard.
