Bring Tornado Sirens To Cecil County
Bring Tornado Sirens To Cecil County
In life, we all want to be safe. When threatening weather strikes, people need a plan to protect them and their families. In Cecil County, it is often that we get thunderstorms during the spring and summer months. On February 7, 2020, The city of Elkton was struck by an EF-1 tornado in the early morning hours. Many people were already at work and school and had very few ways to be notified that the storm was coming. Thankfully, nobody was injured or killed in the storm, partially because people were up and going about their day. If tornadoes strike in the overnight hours, people need a resource that will wake them from sleep to take shelter. The county would benefit greatly from the implementation of tornado sirens to alert people of impending danger. Cecil County has had two tornadoes in the past two years, and current climate trends argue that these events are more likely to recur. Implement tornado sirens to ensure the safety of all who enter the area.
