Conserve 27 Sherman's Bridge Road with Community Preservation funds
Why this petition matters
A developer's recent proposal to overly develop 27 Sherman's Bridge Road helped focus how incredibly valuable this parcel is to the environment, Open Space, Recreation, Historic Preservation, and water quality in Wayland.
Now the town has the opportunity - but must act now - to purchase the property and preserve it forever.
The Wayland Conservation Commission has unanimously submitted an application for Community Preservation Act funding to purchase 27 Sherman’s Bridge Road and preserve it as Conservation land/Open Space.
The Community Preservation Committee will now begin the process of considering whether to allocate $1.5 million at its meeting on December 15.
This funding represents a fitting opportunity for the town to acquire, preserve, and protect this beautiful site, including the kettle hole/vernal pool, the 100 foot tall pine tree stand, and to minimize impacts to the Zone 2 Aquifer beneath this land.
We urge the Community Preservation Committee to make preserving this land its highest priority and to allocate $1.5 million to acquire this property.
