Incline Village, NV, highly values its library and wishes only that it were open longer hours. The eLearning Café has proven to be an asset to the Incline community by providing a learning center for all ages and interests. We ask that the Washoe County Library Board of Trustees enter into a no-cost joint operating agreement or lease with eLearning Cafes, Inc., a Nevada 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational enterprise, for a one-year trial period effective January 1, 2013. The purpose of the joint operating agreement is to use eLearning Café staff to expand Incline Library operating hours from currently 30 hours to approximately 70 hours a week at no increased cost to the Washoe County Library System. eLearning Café staff will use the library space to increase its course offerings, workshops, lectures, tutoring, and other activities for the benefit of area residents. If successful, we hope this model can be replicated elsewhere by other local non-profits for the benefit of libraries and the residents they serve. Thank you for considering this innovative means of enhancing library services in a time of ongoing staff and budget cuts.
