As the decade comes to a close, the importance of the year 2020 and beyond has become apparent in the political spectrum. As we've seen with all the civic engagement from countless organizations for many different issues such as gun reform, climate change, and homelessness. I believe we must keep this momentum into the upcoming future, as we are the leaders of today to ensure our tomorrow. That is why I have created this petition, to create a sense of community amongst wherever you find yourself.

This promise is meant to catalyze, or increase, your sense of civic engagement. And what does this mean? To find the importance in using your voice within your community to make an impact. A community is anywhere you feel you belong, in your city, state, social, or ethnic groups. Not only are you making change for yourself, but everyone in your community as well! Everyone's voice matters, even when it gets silenced or deemed that is doesn't, it is the most valuable tool we have as members of this representative democracy. Through us, politicians should base governmental decisions on what their constituents, so let's raise our voice with whichever opinion you decide.

The gritty part of this promise, comes from your effort. We are all invaluable in creating change, so it is up to all of us to be involved. From my experience, these are basic tasks to become involved and hopefully cultivate an interest in politics of your own!

- Be registered to vote and vote in upcoming elections, local and national!

- Stay up to date in the news, even if it's just the main points. Also, use at least two news source whether it be online, radio, or on television as to reduce the possibility of biased views or polarization. Set aside just a few minutes each day looking at topics from those sources.

- Become involved in community organizations, not only will you gain knowledge and serve others, but you'll enrichment your community! Doing two hours a week is very accessible, if not, do what is possible!

- We have the most power in local governmental decisions, so listen in and share your opinions with your city council. Often times you can access city council meetings online or on television!

- Don't be afraid to start an open conversation on politics! This is a great learning opportunity for everyone, and I understand not everyone is interested though. The conversation will allow one another to interact by seeing a real person first rather than solely an opinion. This will also allow to reduce extreme polarization, if we all do this, eventually the worst that happens face to face is agreeing to disagree.

This is our chance, possibly our last few, to make our impact on the world before it's too late. It starts with us to have a community.
