On July 31st, 2021, the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board will discontinue Curbside Pickup for I-502 cannabis sales. 2020 has demonstrated that Curbside Pickup is both beneficial and needed in Washington. Liquor License holders are allowed to continue serving their customers curbside to aid in the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. We ask the LCB to continue allowing Curbside Pickup in I-502 the same as those who hold a liquor license.
Many customers still do not feel comfortable coming into stores due to the ongoing pandemic. Curbside Pickup has allowed adults to continue to support Washington businesses, whether the customers are immunocompromised, can't take the vaccine, or those who wish to remain socially distant in their vehicle. Curbside Pickup has also enabled customers who cannot leave their cars as quickly or easily as everyone else a more pleasant and comfortable shopping experience.
The 2020 fiscal year saw Cannabis state taxes increased 20.2% over the fiscal year 2019 in additional revenue. Cinder alone has hired 15 full-time workers to support Curbside Pickup. The loss of the ability to serve our customers through Curbside Pickup is alarming and does not consider the number of workers statewide affected by the LCB's decision.
Losing Curbside Pickup for I-502 retailers negatively impacts Washington businesses and citizens. We ask the LCB to continue allowing Curbside Pickup and aiding in the economic recovery of Washington by serving our customers through Curbside Pickup.
