Indian journalist Barkha Dutt misreports, mischaracterises, whitewashes and trivialises human suffering in Indian administered Kashmir. She amplifies state versions and falsifies the accounts and testimonies of victims of state violence in Kashmir using her social media clout. In Washington Post newspaper, she has been twice found to have been purveying highly prejudiced analysis based on inaccurate and false news stories. Her commentary affects Kashmiri civilians. She enables the violence that state is accused of carrying out in Kashmir. She has trivialised UNHRC reports documenting the crises in Kashmir. People in Kashmir have great faith in WaPo for its coverage. But by giving platform to Barkha Dutt, the publication hurts us.
