Petition update

Thank you to all supporters!

May 11, 2015 — With the timeliness of Mother's Day, a fellow momma and I had the pleasure of meeting with Frank Gambino and Jonathan Stahl with National's Ballpark Operations to review their planned renovation to the park to provide for a Family Room!

The new space will include five glider chairs (all of which will have outlets accessible for pumping), a toddler play area, a counter with sink and undercounter fridge, a changing table area, and large-screen televisions to view the game while in the room.

It sounds as though the organization is being very thoughtful and considerate in regards to the details of the space, for which I know we will all be very grateful! We talked about some tweaks to the design based upon feedback that I have gleaned from other mothers and my own experiences; the Operations folks were very receptive to our thoughts and ideas. I believe all Nats fans and their families will be excited to have access to this room when it is opened. From what I learned after our discussion, they are slated to have the new room available some time in July of this summer, and it will be located behind right field on the concourse level.

More than anything, I am hopeful knowing that, at least at Nats Stadium, there will never be another momma who is pointed to a Family Restroom to nurse or pump breastmilk. Thank you again to all who have been supportive of this petition and the rationale behind the requests; it has helped to shed more light on the need for public facilities to provide clean and sanitary spaces to feed and care for our children.
