Allow WACO Students to Wear APPROPRIATE Jeans

Allow WACO Students to Wear APPROPRIATE Jeans
Why Students at Washington County High School Should be Allowed to Wear Jeans
Every parent dreads the new school year. Why? All the money involved in buying their children new clothes and supplies. Let's face it, the price of school uniform pants has gone up over the past couple of years, and it isn’t going to go down anytime soon. Stores know that k-12th-grade students are required to purchase uniforms, therefore they have raised the prices to gain more profit from consumers.
Parents spend more money on school uniforms than they do on everyday clothes for their kids. Not only that, but accidents happen, and khaki pants stain very easily, so it is no surprise when a student has to go through multiple pairs a year.
Although we understand that in the workforce, we will be required to dress to a certain code, a lot of jobs allow their workers to wear jeans. Staff at the GDOT are allowed to wear jeans on Fridays, many restaurants in Sandersville let their workers wear jeans along with their work shirt, Walmart workers wear jeans, and so do other store employees as well.
Jeans are no different from uniform pants, and despite being told many times by teachers, jeans are not inappropriate. Yes, some of them are too tight, and others have rips in them. But that’s why we have a dress code, isn’t it? Someone along the line messed up, and now jeans are deemed “inappropriate” by the Board of Education. As long as they are modest and without rips in them, then there is nothing wrong with jeans.
Let’s make things easier on the parents and students of Washington County, and revisit the “no jeans” policy.
