Washburn University School of Law: Help release students' summer financial aid within a week of summer school.
As law students we simply want a student's perspective to be taken into consideration regarding avaliable funding to meet our basic living cost.
This is important because law students are encouraged not to work during law school to focus on their academic work and internships; therefore, students do not have enough money available to pay monthly expenses, including summer school textbooks when their financial aid disbursements are not released within a reasonable amount of time. This summer sessions started school on May 20, 2013, and for some May 14th, 2013 with the summer intercession. Yet, more than two weeks, and counting, has passed without law students receiving funding for their living cost, books, and supplies. Law school professor should be required to have their grades posted on an earlier date, so that the financial aid office can work more effectively to release students' disbursements within a week of the summer school start date, and not force students into financial hardship.
