Why this petition matters

Started by Arun Bissoon

For much more than a decade, residents of Mission Road, Freeport and environs have been suffering with inconsistent water supply and poor road conditions. Particularly during the dry season, WASA cuts off the water supply to the freeport area for intervals that last over a week on average. In spite of l the measures they take to conserve the water supply in the reservoirs, their workers are often seen digging our roads to conduct "repairs." After "repairing" the broken pipelines though, they make no effort to even contact the ministry of works and Infrastructure to repair the massive potholes they create in our roads. The workers then leave the exposed pipes at the mercy of motorists and their vehicles. This only perpetuates the issue of broken pipes and poor road conditions. Quite often, one would see leaking pipes spraying gallons of water out of the potholes. After calling WASA's hotline repeatedly, a crew of workers are deployed in the area to conduct repairs. After repairing, the roads remain damaged and yet again the pipes remain exposed. Our residents will not be tolerating the blatant neglect and disregard that WASA has for our community. Please sign this petition and take a stand for the rights of your community.
