As from 23rd February 2022, Warwickshire County Council will be actively enforcing the on-street parking restriction on Long Street,.Dordon.

This is currently restricted to 2 hours maximum, no return with 4 hours. Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm

A new team of enforcement officers (traffic wardens) will be fining all vehicles that breach this time limitation.

It effectively means that Long Street has become a 'No Parking Zone' for most if not all residents.

If the Council's intention is to penalise residents, and generate income, then, that in itself is a single reason to refute these enforcements. If they intend to reduce congestion on the road with visiting traffic (as would be done in a town or city) then a residents free permit scheme must be offered.

Under the new enforcement rules, residents without private driveways will have nowhere to park their vehicles, other than to seek parking on unrestricted side streets, which in this case, will only serve to move the congestion to areas of high pedestrian traffic ie school areas. This will put significant pressure on the already congested areas at peak times, thus increasing the possibility of a serious accident.
