Ceri Roberts started this petition to Warrington Borough Council

Every day I cross the road with my three children, Tegan, Frankie and Georgia. They love to go to school on their bikes and scooters. They love to walk in the rain. They love life. Every day I am scared that I will lose one of them.

We live on Acton Avenue which means that every day we need to cross over London Road in Stretton where the traffic travels at a 40mph limit. There are lots of cars exceeding this limit. The pavements are narrow and not safe and therefore we can't walk to the Cat and Lion crossing point. We have two choices, double our distance to school by walking down to Owen's Corner roundabout and back up or walking to the crossing. Neither are ideal.

Given how narrow the pavements are and the volume of housing on this stretch of London Road, I have no idea why the limit is 40mph. I propose a reduction to 30mph between Owen's Corner Roundabout and Cat and Lion traffic lights. We are not the only family affected by this. Many more children may choose to walk if this problem was rectified. There are several bus stops on this route and a lower speed limit would make those waiting safer too. It would also decrease traffic noise for residents. There would be very limited impact on the drivers. Please support me with this cause.
