Save Warren Schools

Save Warren Schools

The current Board of Education is hastily rushing the fact gathering, parent feedback, and decision making process surrounding a potential re-zone or re-alignment of the Warren Township schools.
The Board is failing at their primary duty of providing the best possible experience for the children of Warren.
The current board of education has new members joining January 3rd 2022 and the process should be paused or halted until the newly elected members are sworn in. The exiting and expiring members should not dictate forward looking policy this close to their end of term.
The Board of Education has a prior history of pushing for drastic changes without facts and data. Previously in 2016, they attempted to close a school due to “declining enrollment” at a time the Warren real estate market was picking up and enrollment was increasing. A clear disconnect from reality. The lack of planning and data in that process is similar to this current effort.
The BoE has failed to provide clear data, valid reasons for embarking on this change, and admittedly in their own words is operating under the premise that a change is required, an incorrect initial assumption.
The new board members should be included in this process. Parents should not be excluded from this process (the intentional “oversight” of not sending the community feedback zoom link to registered participants is one example).
Transparency and a thoughtful fact and data-based decision making process should be followed. Not the “gut feel” of departing board members with a history of ill-advised, poorly designed plans regarding Warren school enrollment, alignment, and capacity.
Sign this petition to send a message that decisions impacting our children deserve an open dialogue without time-pressure and should include both parents and newly elected Board of Education members.
