Changing the dress code standards at Warner Robins High
The new dress code at WRHS recently has gotten stricter and has caused a lot of students concern and questioning. With some understanding, yes, certain violations are important to include in creating a dress code such as covering the things that need to be covered. Do our shoulders and collar bones need to be covered? Alone with our thighs that are sat in a desk for more than half the day? Most of the students have agreed that it is unfairly placed and it is mainly against the girls. The leniency on the guys is unfair and wrong. How come a guy can wear a muscle tank and shorts far above the knee, but a girl cannot wear leggings with a shirt that meets her fingertips? How come a guy can get away with wearing hats but a girl cannot get away with wearing jeans with a tear an inch above her kneecap? The faculty at this school have their focus on the wrong things. How about we focus on the priorities of SCHOOL, such as learning, instead of having students miss a quiz or an important discussion in class for having black leggings on with a tee shirt that covers what it needs to. We encourage you to take a look at the dress code requirements for other schools and counties and then correlate them to their education levels. Dress code and test grades do not correlate, much like the right for a man to make comments on a minor girl’s thighs. Zero correlation and zero tolerance from your students who believe that this is injustice.
